September Food Happenings in Tampa Bay

A whole bunch of food-related events and debuts are happening all over the Tampa Bay are. From brunches to monthly classes, indulge while also learn about the effects of food on mental health.

Dough

In honor of the new Star Wars’ Galaxy’s Edge park opening at Disney World and the upcoming movie release, Dough released their new Galaxy Milk drink, a blend of coconut milk, activated charcoal, and vanilla. Another drink they released is the Cereal Milk inspired by the popular menu item at Milk Bar. Dough’s version is made with almond milk and Fruity Pebbles.Both items are available until December 20th. A large cup is $5.

Their fall menu items launched over the weekend and include a whole lotta pumpkin with their pumpkin bars and pumpkin spice cupcakes, black velvet cake, and apple pie donuts.

National Coffee Day is on the 29th but a cold brew ice cream is available for 2 weeks prior beginning on the 15th.

Roux

Who doesn’t go down to New Orleans and not eat their weight in beignets? The New Orleans Cajun/Creole restaurant is now serving beignets daily. The fried dough is the perfect way to end their weekend $15 bottomless mimosa brunch.

Datz

Are you like me and didn’t get a chance to buy all the Popeyes chicken sandwiches before they sold out completely? Datz is getting in on the craze by highlighting their fried chicken sandwich. I’ll have to come by for theirs when I have a craving.

Tibbys

Pumpkin Spice rules the entire food world right now but all 3 locations debut their seasonal menus running from September 9th until November 30th. Their seasonal menu items include:

  • Natchitoches Meat Pies shipped from Louisiana
  • Fried Pork Chop & Red Beans & Rice
  • Surf & Turf Po’Boy with fried shrimp, roast beef debris, and gravy
  • Gator Tacos

Fenway Hotel

Cupcakes & Cocktails: Tuesday, September 17th 7pm-8:30 pm

Learn how to make 3 beer-themed treats with with Frau Beth from Cloud 9 Confections. During the lessons, Fenway Hotel Mixologists create lively libations. Guests get the chance to decorate other goodies for the trip home. Tickets are $65.

Afternoon Tea: Wednesday, September 11th 3:00pm-4:00pm

Take a break mid-day with a cup of Dammann Frères tea and listen to soothing live music. A traditional service with the usual tea snacks like scones, sandwiches, and goodies. Tickets are $30.

Vino on the Veranda: Thursday, September 26th 5:45pm-6:45pm

After working all day, savor the flavors from 4 wine and cheese pairings and relax at the Veranda. Tickets are $25.

Grimaldi’s

The pizzeria comes out with a new menu lineup on September 10th. Seasonal versions of the world-renowned pizza, salads, dessert, and drinks make the cool fall nights even better. Here’s what’s on the new menu:

  • Buffalo Chicken Pizza: signature coal brick-oven pizza crust topped with fire-braised chicken breast, spicy Frank’s RedHot sauce, mozzarella, gorgonzola crumbles, and celery
  • “Wedge” Salad: features romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, red onions, blue cheese dressing, and bacon and gorgonzola crumbles.
  • Chocolate Cheesecake: served with a rich chocolate syrup and whipped cream
  • Caramel Apple Cheesecake: topped with caramel swirl and whipped cream
  • Bourbon Peach Mule: a mix of Maker’s Mark bourbon, Monin peach puree and fresh lemon juice with Gosling’s Ginger Beer and diced peaches
  • Green Apple Sangria: Beso del Sol combined with white sangria, Monin granny smith apple puree and lemon juice

Grab a slice of the chocolate cheesecake before November 1st when it’s being replaced by their anticipated Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake.

Grimaldi’s is teaming up with the Share Our Strength organization to bring awareness to No Kid Hungry to fight childhood hunger. From now until the 30th, guests who donate to No Kid Hungry at Grimaldi’s receive bounce back cards up to $25. The cards don’t expire and are only good for 1 future visit.

Armature Works

Cupcakes and Cocktails: Wednesday, September 25th 7pm-9pm

Cupcakes + Cocktails is a monthly cooking class in the Show + Tell space on the first floor. This month, Beth Lukens from Cloud 9 Confections teaches how to make beer-themed desserts for an Oktoberfest-themed class. Tickets are $55 and includes the class, 2 cocktails, and a few sweets to take home.

Mind-Full Meals: Wednesday, September 18th 6:30pm-8pm

A cooking class that has everything to do with your daily eating and life-style habits. Mental Wellness Coach Maggie Morrison demonstrates how to make a 3-course dinner made from brain-healthy foods and educates on the importance of overall health and wellness. Tickets are $55.
