Halo Top Ice Cream rebrands popular flavors for Dry January

All those doing Dry January (*cough cough* me) can rejoice because according to a survey conducted by Halo Top, over 80% of those participating develop a sweet tooth. The ice cream brand came through in a clutch with their limited-edition Halo Top Swap Kits, a rebrand of four of their most iconic flavors that come with matching custom bowls and spoons and designed to satisfy those sweet tooth cravings. The same survey says 40% of Dry January participants crave ice cream more when not drinking.

“Halo Top has always been about carefree indulgence, encouraging our fans to live life to the fullest” said Ryan Roznowski, Director of Brand Marketing. “When we learned Dry January often leads to intense cravings for sweets, we knew there was a fun way we could step in and help. Our light ice cream is lower in calories, lower in sugar, and is a good source of protein, so Halo Top fans can feel free to indulge – especially if they are looking for something to stand in for their glass of wine or night cap.”

The brand teamed up with a certified sommelier and alcohol flavor expert to identify alternatives for the cravings. The tasting notes explain why each flavor is a perfect sub for the drinks we all love…just without the alcohol, sugar, and calories:

  • The Halo Top Strawberry label is swapped to say Pinot Noir: the bright and lifted red fruit of Halo Top Strawberry is perfect for the red wine lover. Notes of high-toned red fruit evoke aromatic flowers like red roses and hibiscus.
  • The Halo Top Chocolate Caramel Brownie label is swapped to say Old Fashioned: the depth of your favorite whiskey cocktail with notes of caramelized brown sugar and dark chocolate. You won’t even miss the whiskey.
  • The Halo Top Sea Salt Caramel label is swapped to say Reposado Margarita: craving a thirst-quenching salt-rimmed margarita? Halo Top Sea Salt Caramel takes the place of a rich Reposado Tequila margarita with notes of toasted oak, caramel and savory sea salt.
  • The Halo Top Cookies & Cream label is swapped to say Creamy Espresso Martini: a favorite cold weather martini needs a creamy, cold ice cream substitute. Halo Top Cookies and Cream has the perfect high notes of dark chocolate that play to a background of sweet cream with a silky-smooth finish.

The Halo Top Swap pints come in a stylish kit featuring two custom-crafted bowls with gold rims to match the brand’s lids and two gold spoons. The kits are on sale now online at HaloTopDryJanuary.com for $3.60, celebrating the pints contain 360 calories or less.

“When we saw that Dry January led people to crave sweets, it was clear that Halo Top could play a supporting role for our fans who are striving to start the new year on a positive note,” said Roznowski. “As the leading better-for-you ice cream brand, our one-of-kind kits are designed to support ice cream lovers everywhere, offering delicious, high-quality alternatives that help them stay on track without sacrificing their resolutions.”
