The Dalí Museum debuts first-ever mural exhibition
The Dalí Museum debuts its first-of-its-kind mural exhibition titled “Outside In: New Murals Inspired by Dalí,” featuring artists painting directly on the gallery walls. Large-scale murals are created by celebrated participants in the internationally recognized SHINE Mural Festival. In celebration of SHINE Mural Festival’s 10th anniversary, artists were commissioned to create works inspired by Dalí, his work, and the iconic architecture of the museum.
“Museums aim to be porous—what is out in the world must find its way into a museum,” said Dr. Hank Hine, Executive Director of The Dalí Museum. “With the exhibition Outside In, we bring the immediacy and ambitious size of street murals into the gallery to be examined in a new way—within the controlled atmosphere and sense of anticipation that only a museum setting can provide.”

Each artist has a personal connection to Dalí’s work and bring a unique take on their interpretation of the Surrealist artist.
“Murals are more than just decoration—they are statements, stories and expressions of public imagination,” said Allison McCarthy, Associate Curator at The Dalí Museum and curator of the special exhibit. “By featuring them together in this unique setting, we extend their cultural impact and reaffirm their role as powerful tools for community connection, especially within the vibrant community of St. Petersburg.”
Here’s the participating artists:
- SHINE Founders BASK, Chad Mize, Palehorse and Tes One
- Florida-based artists Miss Crit, Naomi Haverland and Nicole Salgar
- National artists Bakpak Durden, Greg Mike and Lauren YS
- International artists Fintan Magee from Australia, Marina Capdevila from Dalí’s homeland of Spain and SHOK-1 from England.
Alongside the exhibit, visitors can experience YOUR PORTRAIT, an interactive experience that educates users on street art while transforming a selfie into a digital mural, and the AI-powered Dream Tapestry, which turns written dreams into unique street art images.
The exhibition begins May 24th and runs until October 26, 2025. There will be a variety of programs including tours, workshops, lectures, and more exploring the intersection of murals and Surrealism. You can find more info at TheDali.org.
