“Plates with Purpose” launches to provide meals to local families

Mainsail Lodging & Development brings hotels together in Florida and Georgia for its new initiative “Plates with Purpose”, which is designed to help families experiencing food insecurity over the holiday season.

Starting Dec. 2, also known as Giving Tuesday, through Dec. 9, hotel restaurants will provide the equivalent of up to five meals for every entree sold to their local food bank partners. “Plates with Purpose” comes when many are experiencing financial strain due to increasing food prices and delays in assistance programs. Plates with Purpose aims to deliver thousands of meals to struggling households.

“We wanted to create something simple, meaningful, and easy for our guests to take part in,” said Joe Collier, President and Founder of Mainsail Lodging & Development. “The holidays magnify the challenges many families are already facing. Turning a dinner out into meals for neighbors who need support is a direct way to make a difference in every community we serve.”

Plates with Purpose participating restaurants and partners include:

Local food banks continuously report elevated demand heading into this time of year. Plates with Purpose spans five markets so Mainsail expects the effort to deliver a substantial boost to each partner organization this season.

Guests can also contribute by scanning QR codes displayed in each restaurant and throughout the hotels. The codes link to donation pages for every partner food bank so that all of the contributions generated through support the local community.

“This initiative is what community is all about,” said Thomas Mantz, President and CEO of Feeding Tampa Bay. “Everyday dining shared around a table at these fine restaurants gives families across our region the same opportunity to share a meal around their table this holiday season.”
