Lights, Camera, Action: My 1st Time on Tampa Bay’s Morning Blend

Last week I made my tv debut on morning show Tampa Bay’s Morning Blend. For those who don’t know, I have a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism so I was beyond ecstatic to finally make it on the small screen.

Being on Tampa Bay Morning Blend was an experience in itself. I dreamed for so long about appearing on television. At some point, I did lose hope that it wouldn’t happen for me so I put it in the back of my head. When I met Ms. Lisa Rau, executive producer of the program, at a preview tasting earlier this month, she offered me the chance to appear. I was shocked initially then once I sat down and thought about it, I took her up on her offer. She and producer Candice Lockhart were super helpful. I was nervous a couple days before to say the least but I got over those feelings quickly.

When I walked in to the station Wednesday morning to tape, I felt like I was where I needed to be. All those semesters in undergrad behind and in front of the camera finally paid off. I knew what I was doing so it was a breeze. As soon as I got the mic on, I knew it was go time. I was familiar (maybe too familiar) with my topic so talking to host Natalie Taylor was like talking to a friend. My segment went by so fast, it was over before I knew it.

These were my reactions to watching myself:

I really want to thank Ms. Rau and Ms. Lockhart for giving me the opportunity and platform to talk about my blog and for their help with putting together this segment. I want to thank everyone who watched it and told me they loved it. I really do appreciate the love. I have a feeling this won’t be my only time on the show *fingers crossed*
