St. Pete’s Tombolo Books delivers your faves to your doorstep

Convenience is a huge part of our lives now. We can get anything we want delivered to us whether its clothes or food. But, did you ever think you’d be able to get your fave books without having to stop by your local Barnes and Noble? That’s where Tombolo Books come in. Tombolo is a service that delivers any book you want wherever you are with no questions asked.  All you have to do is put in an order.

In my latest for St. Pete Life Magazine, I spoke to co-founder Alsace Walentine all about Tombolo Books and how 2 decades in the book industry helped her come up with the idea behind it. Here’s an excerpt:

Alsace Walentine is turning the idea of a small, local bookstore around with her book pop-up shop Tombolo Books. Walentine has worked in the bookselling business for 20 years, starting at Malaprop’s Bookstore and Café in Asheville, North Carolina as the author events director so she knows a thing or 2 about what it takes to keep avid readers interested in new materials.

“I was an author events director, so I got to work with authors and match them with groups of people. It really has a big impact on people’s lives when they meet these authors. I loved making that special thing happen all the time,” Walentine explains.

Walentine says they want to be accessible and available to everyone. One way they do that is with their Downtown Delivery service that runs Monday-Friday. Readers can request books be hand-delivered to them at any location whether it’s a coffee shop, work office, or home. All you have to do is contact them and they’ll drop it off; if the book selection is out of stock, they’ll look for it and let you know when it’s ready.”
