Spring 2019 Trends I’m Obsessing Over

When spring comes around, that’s when I get the shopping bug. I start scouring through all of my favorite stores to see what they have new in store and how

The spring 2019 trends are steady trickling into the stores and online for us to shop for. I’m excited for a few of the trends but I’m obsessed with some also.

Dresses

For some weird reason, when this season comes around is when I’m trying to buy up all the dresses I see. It doesn’t matter the style. I lean towards ruffles, maxi, spaghetti straps, or anything printed. This spring there are only a few styles I’m looking to add to my wardrobe that I know are easy to find and simple to style.

Off-the-Shoulder

UO Striped Off-the-Shoulder Maxi Dress $19.99 urban outfitters.com

Anything revealing shoulders or anything in that area is a low-key sexy vibe to me. Off-the-shoulder dresses are effortless outfit ideas that don’t require too much of anything else to complete the look.

Yellow

Slip Dress with Slits $49.90 zara.com

Ever since Beyoncé wore a yellow dress in the Lemonade visual, I’ve been obsessing over yellow dresses since then. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect one but I haven’t been able to find one. Yellow screams springtime, happiness, and joy. Plus, it looks amazing on Black girls so that’s definitely a win-win.

Wrap

Polka Dot Belt Dress $39.90 zara.com

Wrap dresses flatter all body types and is a classic staple in any woman’s closet. The wrap dresses I’m looking for can work in any occasion from casual to dressy to happy hour. I want something versatile that won’t have me looking overdressed.

Shoes

You can never have too many pairs of shoes, right? Lucky for me, my feet haven’t grown since I was in 4th grade so my size isn’t hard to find.

Sandals

Topshop Darla Slide Sandal $48 shop.nordstrom.com

Being from Florida, I LIVE in sandals. Right now, I’m more interested in heeled sandals to liven up my shorts and dresses. It’s weird, I’ve always liked that style but for the last couple months, I’m on several websites searching for pairs to buy.

Mules

Sam Edelman Leather Mule $49.99 tjmaxx.com

For me, mules dress up a simple jeans and t-shirt. My favorite pair that I wear all the time is a  paisley print from Forever 21. Mules are another item in your closet that go from casual to work to happy hour seamlessly.

Accessories

It’s insane how much accessories matter. Just by adding a necklace or earrings, an entire outfit is elevated. There are times when Robert has to tell me to add more accessories or which kind of accessory to add…usually he’s right in that instance.

Earrings

Floral & Glitter Disc Drop Earrings $6.90 forever21.com

Earrings have been my thing my entire life. I’m sure I got my first piercing as a baby. I remember being freaked out my mom let me get my second piercing in 3rd grade(it was her idea). For spring, although I love my hoops, I want to try more colorful, elaborate and statement piece earrings to upgrade simple looks. I know one place I’ll look for those kinds of earrings is thrift/vintage stores. Not only am I getting them at an inexpensive price, but I know no one else is going to have them.

Straw Bags

I.N.C. Straw Picnic Crossbody $39.75 macys.com

To go along with the Boho theme of every spring season, straw bags slowly grew on me. I liked them when they first showed up in stores, but now that they’re available everywhere at different price points, I feel like now is the time to get them. They look great with any outfit whether casual or a dressier look.

Sunglasses

Wild Fable™ Bright Gold sunglasses $10 target.com

Classic sunglasses are cute, but I want to get away from my usual. I love the cat-eye, round, and oval styles to name a few. This accessory isn’t necessarily a new obsession for me, but just trying the new vibes.
