Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams opening Tampa locations this summer

Summer in Florida is no joke at all. Between the killer humidity and insane temperatures, cold foods are all we’re thinking about eating. One option is Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, founded in 2002 by James Beard-award winning ice cream maker Jeni Britton Bauer.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams are beloved and considered to be THE standard for other ice cream by insiders, food critics, and ice cream lover alike. Pints are currently sold at a number of Publix and Whole Foods grocery stores right now but now they’ll be readily available in Tampa…especially since the ice cream scoops are made for licking off cones.

The new shops are Jeni’s first in Florida. Find locations at The Pearl at The Heights, an upcoming mixed-use development on the Hillsborough River, and at the dining garden at Sparkman Wharf. Jeni’s brings unique, signature flavors like Brambleberry Crisp and Gooey Butter Cake to the list of dairy-free flavors named one of the best inventions of 2019 by Time Magazine.

“Our truck tour came through Tampa in 2018 and I completely fell in love with the city’s energy—the strong sense of community, the entrepreneurial spirit,” said Jeni’s Founder Jeni Britton Bauer. “We couldn’t be more excited about opening at The Pearl and Sparkman Wharf.”

The developers of The Heights District recently announced it’s reached an agreement with Jeni’s to bring a location to the neighborhood. The store will be 1,600-square feet, making it Tampa’s largest location. This location is scheduled to open summer 2020.

“We are excited to bring Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams to the The Heights District – and to the Tampa Bay Area,” said Chas Bruck, Co-Developer for The Heights District and Armature Works. “We see the brand as being a perfect fit for The Heights. This addition continues the growth of the retail segment outside of Armature Works.”
