Next Level Brands announce Matilde, a new coastal Mexican steakhouse concept

Next Level Brands announced today the addition of Matilde, an elevated coastal Mexican steakhouse, as the restaurant group’s fifth concept.  The restaurant is named Matilde in honor of Co-Founder Andrew Wright’s maternal grandmother, a fitting tribute that reflects the concept’s foundation in heritage, culture, and gathering around the table.

“We’re excited to begin introducing Matilde as it takes shape, gradually sharing more of the vision as it continues to unfold,” said Jeff Gigante, Founder of Next Level Brands. “Matilde will build on our commitment to shaping Tampa Bay’s evolving culinary landscape, introducing original concepts that push creative boundaries while remaining rooted in hospitality.”

Next Level Brands’ Culinary Director Jacob Rios will lead the culinary program. Director of Operations Heather Rivas will oversee the restaurant’s development from beginning to end.

Jeff Gigante posted a video on Instagram today from his other concept Forbici, which will soon open a new location in St. Pete in the upcoming weeks.

@matildetampa is born!!!,” Gigante captions the post. “Thanks for all the love shown this morning. Stay tuned as we take this journey together.”

In an article by That’s So Tampa, Gigante says more details on plans for Matilde will be released over the next year before it opens.

“We’re excited to begin introducing Matilde as it takes shape, gradually sharing more of the vision as it continues to unfold,” Gigante said. “Matilde will build on our commitment to shaping Tampa Bay’s evolving culinary landscape, introducing original concepts that push creative boundaries while remaining rooted in hospitality.”

Matilde has an anticipated opening in early 2027. Follow the restaurant on IG @matildetampa for any updates.
