St. Petersburg Distillery put a ray of liquid sunshine on the shelves at our local liquor stores recently.
Their newest offering, Sunset Gin, is a classic London dry gin created with seven botanicals including juniper, coriander, green cardamom, angelica root, and licorice root. The drink is an extension of the distillery’s popular Tippler’s Liquer.
“During these challenging times, it was important to us to create a quality product that would allow us to share a taste of our fabulous Florida sunsets with the world,” said Skip Ragan, Senior Vice President of St. Petersburg Distillery. “As a craft distillery, we’re able to dedicate the time and resources necessary to make these products all natural, providing a truly unique and local experience for those near and far.”
Clara Robbins, St.Petersburg Distillery assistant distiller and gin specialist, worked for months creating an orange gin unlike the rest of orange gins with artificial flavors and colors. She felt a London dry gin paired with the orange, allowing it to get all the attention.
“The overall flavor profile consists of degrees of strength of juniper, citrus, floral, heat, spice, and herbal. The botanicals we selected pair well on their own to make an incredible gin, but really enhance the flavor with the addition of the orange,” adds Robbins.
A 750 mL bottle of Sunset gin is available now at the distillery’s tasting room and market store for $30. It will be available for purchase at ABC and Total Wine locations, restaurants, and independent liquor stores across Florida early 2021.
