Target launches new Drive Up Starbucks service in 1700+ stores

One of the biggest perks of shopping at Target is swinging by the Starbucks and grabbing a latte or pastry. Now, Target fanatics (like me) will be able to add a Starbucks drink or food item to their Drive Up order. By this October, breakfast sandwiches, pastry, cake pops, or lattes can be ordered at the 1700+ Target stores with the coffee shop.

“Our guests have long told us Drive Up is a game-changer, adding convenience to their daily life, especially when they’re short on time,” said Mark Schindele, chief stores officer, Target. “We’ve continued listening to our guests, who’ve told us overwhelmingly that Drive Up with Starbucks would bring even more ease and joy to every Target run. This one-of-a-kind service — available only at Target — is the latest example of how we’re innovating every day to meet the needs of our guests.”

Here’s how it works:

  • The guest makes an order from the Starbucks menu then selects “Add for Drive Up” and pay for the order.
  • Once the guests completes the Drive Up check-in process and says they’re on their way, a barista prepares the order.
  • The guest parks in the designated Drive Up area and says “I’m here” in the Target app. A Target team member delivers the Starbucks order to the car.

Target began prepping this function in late 2021 after an overwhelming amount of requests from shoppers. The function started with team members at select stores and their feedback was used to fine-tune it until the initial launch.

This service will be available in Tampa, St. Pete, and Sarasota.
